The Student Social Committee
At the heart of Greene’s social life is the Student Social Committee – the voice of the student body. In these weekly meetings, you can share ideas, interests, concerns, requests, new ideas for clubs, plan events, and more.
To take part, at the beginning of each term, you can run for one of the prestigious roles in the elections: President, Vice President, Social and Cultural Secretary, Treasurer, Media and Publicity Officer, and more.
Student Clubs
Clubs form an essential part of Greene’s extra-curricular activities, and are usually student-led. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly clubs include:
- Film Podcast
- Photography
- Chess
- Outdoor sports
- Debating
- Coding
- Anime
- Chocolate-making Masterclasses
Students are welcome to form new clubs, including sports clubs, in co-ordination with the Student Experience Officer.
Trips & Visits
Throughout the academic year, as a student at Greene’s, you will have the opportunity to embark on a number of exciting and exclusive trips. From tours to the University of Oxford, online murder mystery games, operas like La Traviata and The Magic Flute to pizza parties and escape room outings, there’s always a chance to meet and socialise with fellow students outside of your paired/shared tutorials.
One of our aims for students in 2023-24 is to increase interactions between our students in our U.K. and Portugal campuses. For Oxford-registered students, this could include a potential trip to the campus in Estoril, Portugal. If this opportunity is of interest, please contact the Student Experience Co-ordinator, Maria.
Oxford Union Membership
As an exclusive opportunity, accessible usually only to University of Oxford undergraduates or postgraduates, Greene’s students are allowed to take out temporary membership to the oldest student-led debating society – The Oxford Union. The Union is the world’s most famous debating society, with a reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. All members can also study and borrow from its world-famous Library too.
