Take your examinations at Greene’s.
If your query has not been answered or if you would like to learn more, please contact us.
The first step in your examinations process is choosing what board you would like to sit your examinations with. If you are retaking examinations, or have already been studying a particular syllabus you will know already which one you have been preparing for.
Once you have decided on what exams you are taking, you will complete the application form here. This gives us more information about you, the candidate. You will need to know what subject, board, level and option code you would like to sit.
Once we receive application forms, we are able to review them. We may be in touch for further information from you – if your specification includes any coursework, or speaking tests, if you would like to do a practical endorsement, or if you are applying for any access arrangements.
Once we have gathered all the relevant information, we are able to generate an invoice for you. This includes the board fees, a candidate fee, and our per-paper fees, as well as any additional fees. Further information regarding the fees can be found here.
Upon payment, we create a candidate profile for you with the details you have provided us with in the application form, and proceed with the entry.
You will receive an email welcoming you to our online portal (Greene’s Online). There will be a guide to Greene’s Online attached to this email. After your initial login you will also be able to review your entries. We strongly encourage you to check that all the exams and their corresponding codes are correct and let us know immediately if there is any discrepancies.
All examinations take place in central oxford. Your timetable will be sent to you a month prior to the examination period. You will also be able to see your timetable on Greene’s Online. If you need the timetable any earlier than this, all of the boards release their timetables online, so you can look up the board timetable beforehand.
If your exam requires you to complete coursework, we will be in touch to arrange supervision. You will need to meet with your supervisor several times and complete a coursework diary. This is so that we can say with certainty that any work you complete is your own. You will need to hand in your coursework before our deadline, so that we can ensure it gets marked and sent to the board by their deadline.
Speaking tests are conducted within a period given to centres by the boards, known as a ‘window’. This window varies from year to year and from board to board but usually takes place a few weeks before the written papers are due to begin. We allocate speaking test dates based on our examiners’ availability – they will take place within the window, during office hours (Monday-Friday, 9.00-5.30). We will send you the date of your exam in advance, so you have time to make plans to come to Greene’s for the exam.
We will also reach out to you to collect the required materials from you or to arrange supervision for projects. Different boards and levels have different specifications for what is required from you (you may need to send us an image, prepare a presentation, or complete an Individual Research Project). Please familiarise yourself with what your specification requirements are.
All morning examinations will begin at 9.00am, and all afternoon examinations will begin at 1.30pm. Candidates must arrive by 8.40 and 1.20 respectively. This is to ensure that you can find the correct room, and you are seated comfortably by the time the examinations begin. You will be allocated a room and a desk – you can find your name on your desk and make yourself comfortable.
You can find a list of things you need to bring with you here, and a list of prohibited items here.
Greene’s is a registered examination centre with all the main U.K. examination boards for GCSE, IGCSE, A level and the Cambridge Pre-U.
We welcome both internal and external (private) candidates for a range of examinations and tests at our centres in Oxford and Estoril or for online invigilation.
As an examinations candidate at Greene’s you have online access to Greene’s Online which will allow you to interact with your timetables. Please note that digital certificates will be sent out via e-mail, not Greene’s Online.
Trial examinations can help you to review the extent to which you are on track to achieve your target grade, and to calm pre-examination nerves. They are particularly useful if you feel you need extra testing and feedback on how ready you really are for the actual exam itself.
