Our Pre A-level course is designed as an introduction to the U.K. Further Education system and lasts one year or less. Students experience a wide range of subjects which prepares them to progress to study A levels. The course, which aims to improve a student’s English, enables students to become familiar with vocabulary, culture and ethos of particular subjects and to familiarise themselves with key learning methods and texts. At Greene’s we offer both September and January starting points for Pre-A level.

Every A level programme is different – the timeframe and the number of subjects varies from person to person.
1. Improved Subject Knowledge for University Preparation Programmes
The accelerated programme is designed to deepen students’ understanding of their chosen subjects, providing a strong academic foundation for university-level study. With intensive focus and expert teaching, students refine their skills in critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving—essential tools for excelling in higher education. Greene’s curriculum aligns with the expectations of top universities, ensuring students are well-prepared for competitive application processes.
2. Builds Personal Confidence and Independence
Beyond academic success, Greene’s programme fosters the personal growth of its students. By managing a rigorous schedule and adapting to a new academic environment, students build resilience, self-reliance, and confidence. These qualities are essential for thriving in university settings, where independence plays a key role in success. Students leave the programme not only academically prepared but also equipped with the life skills needed to navigate future challenges.
3. Introduction to U.K. Teaching Methods and Preparation for Further Study
For students unfamiliar with the U.K.’s teaching style, this programme offers a seamless introduction. Greene’s tutorial-based approach emphasises active participation, critical inquiry, and personalised feedback. These methods help students adapt to a style of learning that prioritises depth over breadth and encourages intellectual curiosity. By the end of the programme, students are well-versed in U.K. academic expectations, making the transition to university smoother and more manageable.
4. Exceptional IELTS Support
For international students, English proficiency is a critical component of academic success. Greene’s provides comprehensive IELTS teaching tailored to each student’s needs. The results speak for themselves: most students improve their scores by 1.5 grades within the year, opening doors to prestigious universities and professional opportunities worldwide. The focus on language skills extends beyond exam preparation, equipping students with the confidence to communicate effectively in academic and social contexts.
5. Small Tutorial Sizes for Personalised Attention
What sets Greene’s apart is its commitment to small group tutorials. These intimate class sizes allow tutors to provide highly personalised instruction, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to excel.
